Djinn Spirits Distillery
I spent 30 years in high-tech industries as a computer engineer and manager. At the same time, my wife Cindy and I learned a love of cooking and creating with flavors. In 2011, after a stray comment from Cindy about making whiskey, I began studying distillation and what it would take to start a business. Several books, courses, and models later we opened Djinn Spirits in December of 2013. Starting with a white whiskey and gin, we gradually expanded the line to aged whiskeys and Krupnik, a traditional Polish recipe for spiced honey liqueur. Along the way, we critiqued each batch, then tweaked processes and formulas – constantly searching for improvements. In 2016 we won our first silver medal, plus a couple more in 2017. Finally, in 2018 we won a gold medal for our Beat 3 Single Malt Whiskey, so it’s been very rewarding to see the growth.
The combination of art and science in this industry fascinates us, plus it’s an exciting time to be here. When we’re not at the distillery, we’re either out with our three grown children or walking our border collies – the Distillery Dogs.
