Maureen Robinson is one of Scotland’s finest and most experienced Master Blenders. As a 45 year Scotch whisky veteran, she was one of the first women in the Scotch whisky industry to hold the title of “Master Blender”
Maureen began her career with Diageo’s predecessor company Distiller’s Company Ltd in 1977 as a young scientist. It was here that her exceptional sense of smell was discovered, marking her out as a potential whisky blender. She spent 9 years developing her nosing and tasting ability, even creating her own language to describe what she was able to sense, when nosing whiskies.
She is seen as a trailblazer and pioneer who is highly respected, revered and loved in the industry by colleagues, whisky experts (including Dave Broom and Bernhard Schafer) and Whisky enthusiasts & collectors (particularly Taiwan & China).
During her 45yr blending career, Maureen worked & blended several Scotch whisky brands including The Singleton (world’s 5th largest single malt whisky), Johnnie Walker (world’s #1 blended Scotch whisky), Buchanan’s (world’s 7th largest blended Scotch), Old Parr (Latin America’s 3rd largest blended Scotch), Diageo Special Releases, Casks of Distinction program & Prima & Ultima series (Prestige & Prestige Plus).
